![]() ![]() The other bit of it is that the charge partially helps cover the cost of this level of support. Unsupported of course simply meaning they don't support (much) troubleshooting over the phone, not that the network doesn't support them.Ī valid (not Comcast-like sleezy make-up-more-reasons-to-charge-fees) reason for this is that they don't have any remote access to anything other than the router they rent. I got it in anticipation of multi-gig and was using it for a bit with 1gig. The router works fine for non-multi-gig service. I even tried laptop directly connected to ont and it failed to get internet (I’d get a 169 ip address).Īnybody have ideas that I can do to fix this? I don’t think this needs a service tech to come out to my house. I’m thinking there’s something weird on the Ziply side where the dhcp services are “exclusive” to the Netgear router and it refuses to issue dhcp to anything else. ![]() I’ve also unplugged and replugged after a minute the ont, that didn’t fix matters. I even tried to clone the netgear’s MAC address onto the Asus that also failed. I even tried to do a manual config and use the dns server and things the Netgear router found, that doesn’t work. I can try to reset router, try the automatic config. I now own a higher end Asus ax89x but it won’t automatically configure the wan it’ll say “your isp’s dhcp does not function properly”. ![]() I can do an automatic configuration with WAN port and the internet works fine. They can send someone out but it’ll cost money.Īnyways, I’ve had a Netgear RAX80 and it works fine with ziply. They basically said I’m on my own with 3rd party routers to get them working with ziply fiber. I tried calling ziply support last night but they weren’t helpful. Thanks for all the suggestions and the reference to the 4 hour dhcp lease. I reset the Asus again and then waited… and it eventually just started working after 30 minutes or so. I did a dhcp release on my older Netgear router - I think that helped. ![]()
